How they help your pet

  • WHAT IS A HAIRBALL?

Hairballs happen when your cat ingests fur while they’re grooming themselves. If you’ve ever been licked by a cat, you’ll know how scratchy that tongue is! It’s covered in many small spines (the technical term is papillae) that essentially function as hooks. So the tongue can lift dead or loose fur when your puss is having a grooming sesh.

You might eventually see this fur again…in their litter tray. However, if your cat ingests too much floof which can’t be digested, regurgitating is the only way to shift it.

  • SIGNS YOUR CAT HAS HAIRBALLS

Wondering if your puss is having problems with hairballs? Here are some telling signs to watch out for:

    • Frequent vomiting, gagging, retching, or hacking (even if they don’t produce a hairball at the end)

    • Loss of appetite

    • Lethargy

    • Constipation

    • Diarrhoea

  • HOW TO SPOT A HAIRBALL

While the word ‘hairball’ might sound fluffy, in reality, they’re anything but. Hairballs look like mucus-covered, thick matts of hair and despite the name, they’re not round. In fact, they’re more likely to be tubular in shape. Feeling nauseous yet?

After a bout of gagging, retching or hacking, you might see your cat spit up a hairball. Or you might come across one wherever your puss has been hanging out (cat: “Here’s one I made earlier…”).

  • HOW ITCH HAIRBALL TREATS HELP TO PREVENT HAIRBALLS

Specially formulated to prevent hairballs forming — and to get the grim things moving and break them down if they’re already an issue — Itch Hairball Treats are made with Omega 3 and 6 for healthy skin and glossy coats, digestion-boosting prebiotics, and cereal fibre and oil to get that unwanted fur moving quickly.

  • ITCH HAIRBALL TREATS FOR KITTENS

Kittens can also benefit from our Itch Hairball Treats! These can be given from 12 weeks of age and they’re packed with all sorts of goodness including Omega 3 & 6 for healthy skin and a glossy coat, prebiotics to support healthy digestion, plus cereal fibre and oil to quickly shift any gloopy floof deposits.

Treat your puss in moderation (even if they tell you otherwise) in combination with feeding them a high-quality pet food, formulated for their life stage.

vet approved!

Intermittent vomiting in your cat can be a common sign for hairballs. The natural lubricant action of Itch Hairball treats will encourage the natural passage of fur through and out of the digestive system rather than it accumulating in the stomach therefore reducing signs of retching and vomiting.
