CAUSES OF STRESS IN DOGS
Our dogs can be affected by stress, just like us! Here are a few common causes of stress in dogs: Changes to their environment or homeWhether you're moving house, moving furniture around or doing a spot of decorating, dogs can be sensitive to changes in their home environment. This can also include having new visitors in the home too. For example, friends coming over to visit, or even the introduction of a new baby (furry, or otherwise)! Being given too much attentionSome dogs want all the attention they can get, but others really enjoy having their personal space. If your pet prefers a bit more alone time, they can become stressed if they're on the receiving end of too much attention. This can include being followed, excessively stroked or cuddled. All children should be closely monitored when spending time with dogs to make sure they don't go OTT. It's great to get them into the habit at an early age of respecting your pet's boundaries.
Holiday separationTaking your dog on your travels isn’t always an option, but holiday separation can be a real issue for some pets. Itch Calm Treats can help support dogs to feel safe and relaxed when you’re away, helping to reduce signs of stress and anxiety. FireworksAs we all know, this isn’t just an issue on Bonfire Night. They can go off all year round with various celebrations taking place, although the main season can extend from October through to New Year. It’s not uncommon for dogs to find the sight and sound of fireworks distressing. Threats to their territoryIs there a new doggo in the neighbourhood? Or some imposter weeing on your pooch's favourite patch of grass? Our pets can be very protective over their home turf and the presence of a new dog in their space can be unsettling. Visits to the vetThe sights and smells of the vet's is enough to make many dogs feel anxious, particularly if they can remember a previous 'bad' visit. It could also have something to do with where the vet puts the thermometer...
HOW ITCH CALM TREATS HELP TO CALM DOGS DOWN
Here are some of the ways Itch Calm Treats can help your dog to chill:Relaxation-inducing ingredientsOur treats contain camomile and lavender for a double-whammy of chillax. Lavender is a natural calming ingredient which is renowned for its relaxation-inducing properties. Camomile helps to reduce inflammation and soothe away stress.Natural stress-reliefWe only use natural, calming ingredients which have a gentle, soothing effect. Nothing harsh and definitely no sedatives. Just a gentle nudge in the right direction to take your pet from stressed to serene. Ommmmm.Rewarding good behaviourBy rewarding your dog when they demonstrate positive behaviours, you're essentially saying "More of this, please!".The more your dog gets used to being rewarded for good, calm behaviour, the more it will come naturally to them. Add in a calming treat here and there and you'll have a zen-like pet in no time at all.
