How does a dog get fleas?

There are lots of different ways a dog can get fleas, but what they all have in common is that your pet must come into contact with fleas. This could be a flea-infested home or area, or a flea-infested pet. Fleas can hitchhike their way onto your pet by travelling on us to get there - they can sneak into our socks or onto our clothes.
